Friedrich Wahle (born July 3, 1860 in Prague , † August 31, 1927 in Munich ) was a painter and draftsman who worked in Munich.

Life

Wahle came from a Prague merchant family. He studied painting from October 7, 1878 in the class of antiquities at the Royal Academy of Fine Arts in Munich with Gabriel von Hackl , Ludwig von Löfftz and Wilhelm von Diez . When enrolling, he gave the Czech form of the first name Bedřich, the Israelite denomination and the age of 18 years. Reliable data from the matriculation register prove that the year of birth 1863, which is often given by the art trade, is incorrect.

After completing his studies, Wahle settled in Munich and worked for the Fliegende Blätter . He also provided illustrations for the Crown Prince's work : The Austro-Hungarian Monarchy in words and pictures . Wahle exhibited his works at the Berlin Secession from 1899 to 1901.

Friedrich Wahle was friends with Lovis Corinth , who showed him in a caricature from 1896 with Benno Becker and Hermann Eichfeld .
