Friedrich Wilhelm von Thile

Friedrich Wilhelm von Thile (* 1709 ; † January 3, 1782 ) was a royal Prussian major general and chief of Infantry Regiment No. 28.

Life

He was born as the third son of Major General Martin von Thile and his wife Dorothea Gregori .

Von Thile entered the Prussian military service in 1726 and in 1730 became an ensign in the Old Prussian Infantry Regiment No. 25 , his father's regiment. In 1738 and 1739 he took part in the campaigns against the Turks as a volunteer. In 1739 he was also a captain and fought on April 10, 1741 in the battle of Mollwitz , where he was wounded.

In 1751 Thile Major was in the Old Prussian Infantry Regiment No. 39 . As such he fought on December 5, 1757 in the Battle of Leuthen , where he was wounded again. In October 1758 he was promoted to lieutenant colonel and in December 1758 to colonel. On August 6, 1759 he was appointed major general. On February 5, 1760, he took over Infantry Regiment No. 28 , before he left on June 4, 1770 and received a pension of 1,500 thalers. Friedrich Wilhelm von Thile died on January 3, 1782.
