Friedrich von Essellen (born April 27, 1774 in Bochum , † March 2, 1851 in Soest ) was a Prussian district administrator.

Life

Friedrich von Essellen was born as the third of eight children of the married couple Friedrich Heinrich von Essellen (councilor, raised to the nobility in 1787) and Dorothea Mallinckroth. He entered the Prussian military service in 1794 and was Rittmeister in the former 1st Westphalian Landwehr Cavalry Regiment. Following the request of the Soest district council to transfer the office of district administrator, von Essellen was appointed district administrator of the Soest district on March 26, 1817, subject to a dispensation from the examination. On April 15, 1817, he began his service and ran his official business in two rooms in his private apartment at Thomästrasse 1 in Soest. The Royal Government in Arnsberg did not want to cover the costs for the requested third room.

On February 21, 1838, von Essellen retired at his own request.

In his will of July 30, 1839, Friedrich von Essellen left 100 thalers to the poor of the Protestant community in Bochum and 50 thalers to the poor of the city of Soest.
