The Frio Peak is 2606 m high mountain in the East Antarctic Victoria Land . In the Royal Society Range, it rises 2.5 km east of Salient Peak .
The name came from the suggestion of the New Zealand geologist Ken Brodie and is derived from the English frío for "cold". He wanted to remember the icy winds he encountered while working in this area between 1979 and 1980 as part of the New Zealand Antarctic Research Program .
