A good start is a gallop of Johann Strauss II is written to (Op. 475). The place and date of the premiere are not known.

Remarks

The work was compiled based on motifs from the operetta Die Göttin der Vernunft , which premiered in 1897 . The work thus joins a series of compositions (opus numbers 471 , 472 , 473 , 474 , and 476 ) that take up all the themes from this operetta. Most of these works were only completed as piano reductions. The authorship of Johann Strauss in this gallop is not clearly proven. Since he was hostile to the operetta Goddess of Reason , and had only completed it anyway because he was contractually obliged to do so, with a few exceptions he also refused to produce pieces of music based on motifs from this operetta. The CD recording mentioned below was arranged by Christian Pollack based on a piano reduction. It is also not certain whether there was ever an orchestral version and whether the work was ever played when it was composed.

The playing time on the CD listed under individual records is 3 minutes and 2 seconds. This time can vary somewhat depending on the conductor's musical conception.
