Fritz Bützberger
Fritz Bützberger (born March 26, 1862 in Bleienbach , Canton Bern, † November 1, 1922 in Bern ) was a Swiss mathematician .
Bützberger attended the schools in Bleienbach and Langenthal and the grammar school in Burgdorf and studied from 1880 at the Polytechnic in Zurich to become a mathematics and physics teacher. After graduating in 1884, he became a math teacher in Langenthal. In addition, he received his doctorate in 1888 at the University of Bern under Ludwig Schläfli summa cum laude with the dissertation: A planimetric problem related to the theory of algebraic surfaces . In 1896 he became a mathematics teacher at the Cantonal School of Zurich and held lectures on descriptive geometry at the University of Zurich. After teaching primarily prospective engineers from 1899 on, he went to the technical school in Burgdorf in 1903.
Several textbooks and school books come from him. He published on geometry (Ovoide) and edited the records of Jakob Steiner from the years 1923 to 1826 found in the Bern City Library by Johann Heinrich Graf on behalf of the Bern Natural Research Society.
In 1896/97 he was on the organizing committee of the first International Congress of Mathematicians in Zurich.
