Fritz Berger (born February 14, 1897 in Kleinhüningen ; † September 4, 1977 in Basel , Catholic , legal resident in Basel) was a Swiss politician (CVP) .

Life

Fritz Berger was born on February 14, 1897 as the son of the landlord and lock keeper August Berger in Kleinhüningen. After completing compulsory schooling in Tegernau , Berger completed an apprenticeship as bricklayer and stone carver. From 1917 he worked as a draftsman for his brother-in-law Ernst Lauer.

In addition, Berger was a member of the building council of the Basler Kantonalbank from 1930 to 1968 . In addition, from 1941 to 1968 he presided over the Basel House Owners Association and the Board of Directors of St. Claraspital AG. Fritz Berger, who was married to Emilie née Lipps, the daughter of the owner of a transport company , died on September 4, 1977 at the age of 80 in Basel.

One of his sons was the classical archaeologist Ernst Berger .

As a member of the Catholic People's Party, Fritz Berger was represented in the Basel city council from 1929 to 1950 , where he made a name for himself above all as a building politician. In the National Council , of which he was a member from 1951 to 1963, he concentrated on building and family policy.
