Fritz Felgenhauer

Fritz Heinz Felgenhauer (born October 29, 1920 in Vienna ; † January 17, 2009 ) was an Austrian prehistorian .

Life

He majored in prehistory with Richard Pittioni and Franz Hančar , anthropology as a minor with Josef Weninger , ethnology with Wilhelm Koppers and Leopold Schmidt and with Hugo Hassinger geography. On June 23, 1950 doctorate he with the Paleolithic finds from Aggsbach on the Danube to Dr. phil. On December 1, 1950, he was hired as an assistant. After his habilitation on paleolite finds from Willendorf in the Wachau for the nominal subject “Prehistory of Man” in 1957, he was appointed university lecturer on July 16, 1957. On September 29, 1964 he was appointed associate professor of prehistory and early history. In 1989 he retired.
