Fritz Herz

Fritz Herz (born February 3, 1867 in Munich , † January 21, 1945 in Vienna ) was a German theater actor and director .

Life

Herz, the son of the actor Franz Herz , was to become a portrait painter in 1883 after he had left grammar school at his father's request, but in the same year decided to take up his father's profession and attended the Munich Conservatory, where he was a pupil of Heinrich Richter has been.

He dared his first stage attempt on March 2, 1885 as "Mortimer" at the Court Theater in Munich, where he stayed until 1887 as an apprentice. He then traveled for a year with the "Münchners", was at the Deutsches Theater in Berlin from 1888 to 1894 (in 1892 he appeared with the ensemble of this theater in the International Theater and Music Exhibition in Vienna and in 1893 at the Dagmartheater in Copenhagen). In the last year he joined the Association of the Karlsruhe Court Theater as the first hero and bon vivant.

His specialty were Bavarian and Austrian dialect roles. It also deserves to be mentioned that when the Munich Schauspielhaus opened (April 20, 1901) , Herz performed "Johannes" (Sudermann) and thereupon undoubtedly demonstrated his suitability for ultra-modern roles.

He was married to the daughter of the court conductor Josef Hellmesberger senior , Maria (1867-1940), who appeared as an actress until 1894. Josef Hellmesberger junior was thus his brother-in-law.
