Fritz Hildebrandt (painter, 1819)

Fritz Hildebrandt (* 1819 in Danzig ; † 1855 in Rome ) was a German marine painter .

Life

Before 1840 Hildebrandt worked as a seaman and received training as a room painter in Danzig. In 1840 he became a room painter in St. Petersburg , where he worked at the imperial winter palace. He studied in Wilhelm Krause's private studio in Berlin in 1841 and took part in the Berlin Academy Exhibition in 1842 . In 1843 he went on a study trip to Denmark , Sweden , Norway and Paris , after which he returned to Berlin.

1844–1855 he was a student of Eugène Isabey . In 1846 he took a trip through southern France , Spain and Italy , in 1846, 1848 and 1850 Hildebrandt took part in the Paris Salon . In 1847 he traveled to Great Britain and Ireland with his brother, the painter Eduard Hildebrandt .
