Fritz Horn (actor)
Fritz Horn ( January 25, 1887 , Prague - October 29, 1974 , Vienna ) was an Austrian actor who a. a. played at the Salzburg Festival and at the Burgtheater .
Life
He made his debut at the Salzburg Festival in 1931 as Fernando's servant in Goethe's Stella , and from 1933 to 1937 he played the poor neighbors in Max Reinhardt's production of Jedermann . The former officer of the Austro-Hungarian Army was arrested in 1939 and taken to Sachsenhausen concentration camp in 1941 , where he spent three and a half years. In 1943 he was taken to the Natzweiler-Struthof concentration camp , further deported in the course of the 'evacuation measures' in 1944 and finally liberated by the Allies in 1945 in the Dachau concentration camp .
In 1947 he again took on the role of the poor neighbor in Helene Thimig's new production of Jedermann in Salzburg. In the 1950s he was engaged at the Burgtheater, with this ensemble he made a guest appearance. a. also at the Bregenz Festival . At the festival performance of King Ottokar's Glück und Ende at the reopening of the Burgtheater in October 1955, Horn was Ottokar's second servant. In the post-war period he also appeared in a number of films, the last one in Paris in 1966 is worth a trip with Gus Backus .
