action

Fritzi Werner and Gretl Wiesinger are two young women who earn their living as shorthand typists in Vienna in the early post-war period. They spend their summer vacation this year in St. Gilgen in the Upper Austrian Salzkammergut. Gretl's boyfriend, with whom she will soon get engaged, is the junior manager of the lake hotel there. For cost reasons, both young women travel separately, hitchhiking. In the process, Gretl meets the charming Thomas Brand, who takes her with him in his vehicle.

In the meantime Fritzi has already arrived in St. Gilgen, where she is initially mistaken for the expected new waitress. Since she has no objection to an extra income, Fritzi gladly accepts the job in Peter's hotel-restaurant. The junior manager immediately falls in love with her. During the drive from Vienna to St. Gilgen, Gretl also fell in love with her helpful companion, Brand. There are still some minor tangles on site before the two newly found couples finally get together at the Annenfest.

Reviews

“Similar to Hubert Marischka's HERR KANZLEIRAT, which started only a few weeks later, the pleasure film RENDEZVOUS IN THE SALZKAMMERGUT is also a good piece of tourism advertising. The region shows itself from its most attractive side, whereby it is also made clear that there is a certain price differential between the hotels and hostels - so that there is still a lot for the proverbial little man - here in the form of two young, single, working women There is room for economic improvement. The later theater production and filming specialist Alfred Stöger shows his liveliest side here. ”
