Together with newcomer Ernst Melchior , Fritz Kominek soon formed the right side of the consistently prominent storm formation of Austria in the following years. The greatest successes were three Austrian championships in 1949, 1950 and 1953 as well as two wins in the ÖFB Cup in 1948 and 1949 before the competition was discontinued . Internationally, the two-time progression to the semi-finals of the Copa Rio was shown.

Ultimately, it was from ÖFB before their 30th year at the beginning of 1955, the conversion to Nîmes Olympique in the Division 1 permits . After two and a half years in Nîmes, Fritz Kominek was signed by RC Strasbourg from Division 2 . The winger contributed twelve goals to the immediate promotion. After another year in Division 1, he was poached in 1959 by league rival RC Lens . In November 1960, the Viennese came to Olympique Marseille in Division 2. Here he was promoted again in 1961/62, but Fritz Kominek had already returned to Austria a few months earlier.

The right winger finally hired in the A-League with 1. In his 22 active season Fritz Kominek played for FC Grenchen in the National League A . He himself scored another 12 goals and missed the Swiss championship title by just one point behind Grasshopper Club Zurich . He had already worked as a player- coach this season, and together with Erwin Ballabio he was the coach of FC Grenchen until 1967. Fritz Kominek came to the GAK via the intermediate station 1. Wiener Neustädter SC , where he surprisingly made it into the final of the ÖFB Cup in 1968. 1970 to 1972 he was still active as a coach at FC Friborg .
