Fritz Kreß (politician)

Fritz Kreß (born May 15, 1896 in Altenstadt ; † September 13, 1960 ) was a Hessian politician ( SPD ) and a member of the Hessian state parliament .

After elementary school, Fritz Kreß attended the Offenbach State Commercial College and worked as a druggist and later as an independent textile merchant.

Fritz Kress was already a member of the SPD during the Weimar Republic and, for his party, was a member of the Altenstadt municipal council and the Büdingen district committee from 1922 to 1933 . From 1929 to 1933 he was a member of the Provincial Parliament of Upper Hesse.

After 1945 Fritz Kreß became district chairman of the SPD in the Büdingen district. 1945 to 1960 he was mayor of Altenstadt. From June 15, 1946 to November 30, 1946, he was a member of the state assembly of Greater Hesse, which advised the constitution, and from December 1, 1946 to November 30, 1950, of the Hessian state parliament.

Fritz-Kreß-Straße in Altenstadt is named after him.
