Fritz Leutwiler
Fritz Leutwiler (born July 30, 1924 in Baden ; † May 27, 1997 in Zumikon ) was a Swiss economist.
Fritz Leutwiler was the son of the businessman Friedrich Leutwiler and his wife Fanny Marie Leutwiler, née lord of the castle. He studied economics at the University of Zurich , where he received his doctorate in 1948 . After an internship at the branch of the Swiss Bankers Association (SBV) in London, he joined the Swiss National Bank (SNB) in 1952 , where he became director in 1959 and was its president from 1974 to 1984. From 1982 to 1984 he was also President of the Bank for International Settlements (BIS).
From 1985 to 1992 he was Chairman of the Board of Directors of Brown, Boveri & Cie. (BBC) when the merger to Asea Brown Boveri (ABB) was initiated. He was also a board member at Ciba-Geigy , Nestlé and Precious Woods and was President of the Swiss Schiller Foundation .
Fritz Leutwiler was married to Andrée Marguerite Leutwiler geb. Cottier.
