Fritz Meusel (born September 30, 1921 ; † 20th / 21st century) was a German football player . He completed a total of 83 league games in the seasons 1948/49 to 1950/51 in the soccer Oberliga Süd for 1. FC Schweinfurt 05 in which the striker scored 45 goals.

Career, 1942 to 1952

The attacker Fritz Meusel, who emerged from VfR 07 Schweinfurt , was also deployed at LSV Olmütz in the Gauliga Sudetenland in the 1941/42 season due to the war . After winning the championship with LSV, the 20-year-old Meusel stormed on May 10, 1942 in the final round of the German soccer championship against First Vienna Wien. In front of 10,000 spectators in Olomouc, the later finalist from Vienna prevailed 1-0 with a goal from Karl Decker . After the end of the Second World War, the offensive player caused a high at TSV Hirschaid in Upper Franconia until 1948 .

Just in time for the introduction of the "contract player" in southern Germany for the 1948/49 season, Meusel signed a contract with FC Schweinfurt 05 for the first-class Oberliga Süd and moved to the "ball bearing city" with the Green-Whites. The lively and accurate attacker made his debut at the start of the round, in a 1-1 away draw against FC Bayern Munich, on September 11, 1948 in the major league in the center-forward position in the World Cup system at that time . On the fourth match day, October 3, 1948, he scored his first success as a goalscorer for his new club. In the 3-0 home win against VfR Mannheim, he distinguished himself as a two-time goalscorer. With the standard runner series around the national players Andreas Kupfer , Albin Kitzinger and Robert Bernhard , Schweinfurt finished 10th with 29:31 points. In the attack, Jakob Lotz (13) and Meusel (12) were primarily responsible for the goals. In his second year with the zero five, in 1949/50, Meusel scored ten goals in 24 league appearances, leading the club's internal goalscorer list ahead of Paul Gorski and Karl “Molli” Kupfer with six goals each.

The third round year of Meusel bei Schweinfurt 05, 1950/51, should be the most successful: With 36:32 points the green-whites finished 7th and Meusel placed 3rd with 23 hits in the top scorer list of the Oberliga Süd , behind Max Morlock (28 goals) and Horst Schade (27 goals). Nuremberg won the championship two points ahead of Fürth. The goal scorer from Schweinfurt had each game against 1. FC Nürnberg (2-4), Singen 04 (3: 0), SV Waldhof (4: 4), Eintracht Frankfurt (2: 1) and Singen 04 (2: 4 ) hit twice. He scored his 23rd goal on April 22, 1951 in a 3-1 away win against VfB Mühlburg; the Karlsruhe district club finished the round in 3rd place.

Meusel accepted an offer from the league relegated SV Darmstadt 98 for the round in 1951/52 and moved to the "lilies" in the stadium at Böllenfalltor in the 2nd South League. Due to an 18-month ban for violating the contract player statute, the hoped-for new Lilien striker could not play a league game in 1951/52. From September 24th to December 31st, 1951, he was a coach in Darmstadt, before completing this task with Rudolf Gramlich until the end of the lap. Although with Karl Schirra (Borussia Neunkirchen), Erich Gehbauer (Wormatia Worms) and Karl Kupfer (SpVgg Fürth) other league players had come to Darmstadt, the 90s only finished 10th. The aim of the immediate league return was not achieved with the blue-whites.

From the second half of the 1952/53 season onwards, Meusel was able to play as a player (13-1), in the world championship year 1953/54 he scored 13 goals in 20 league appearances and in the summer of 1955 he ended his high-class playing career at the age of 34.
