David Hummel

David Hummel (born February 23, 1978 in Dresden ) is a German legal scholar. Since 2017 he has been an associate professor at the University of Leipzig and as a consultant at the European Court of Justice in the cabinet of the German Advocate General Juliane Kokott in Luxembourg. Hummel publishes mainly on sales tax , in particular on input tax deduction .

Career

Hummel studied at the University of Leipzig , and was as an employee of Holger Stadie on "buildings on land and soil" doctorate . His dissertation was awarded the DWS Prize by the German Scientific Institute of Tax Advisors in 2008 and the Dr. Feldbausch Prize of the Dr. Feldbausch Foundation and also awarded the Hans Flick Prize of Honor in 2009 by the law firm Flick Gocke Schaumburg .

In 2013, Hummel received his habilitation ( venia legendi : public law, in particular tax law and public commercial law), the subject of his habilitation thesis was "Legal form neutrality in public law". From 2013 to 2016, Hummel held deputy professorships at the Westphalian Wilhelms University in Münster , Trier , Leipzig and Hamburg .
