Fritz Pinkuss
Fritz Pinkuss (born May 13, 1905 in Egeln near Magdeburg ; died 1994 in São Paulo ) was a German liberal rabbi in Germany and Brazil .
Life
In 1928 he was in Würzburg with a thesis on Moses Mendelssohn Dr. phil. PhD . In 1930 he passed the rabbi exam in Berlin . From 1930 to 1936 he was a rabbi in Heidelberg and a lecturer at Heidelberg University . He then emigrated to Brazil, where he became Chief Rabbi in São Paulo. From 1945 he was professor of Hebrew and Jewish Sciences at the university there, where he founded and directed the Center for Jewish Studies . In 1972 he received the Great Cross of Merit of the Federal Republic of Germany.
