Fritz Puppel
Fritz Puppel (born November 2, 1944 in Sprottau ) is a German musician and composer. He is a member of the band City .
From 1963 to 1965 Puppel belonged together with Dieter Birr from the Puhdys to the East Berlin beat band Luniks , where they gained their first musical experience. He studied from 1966 to 1970 at the Humboldt University in Berlin and graduated as a teacher for polytechnics . In addition, he attended the Friedrichshain Music School in Berlin-Friedrichshain from 1969 and had guitar lessons. After the final exam in 1973, Puppel taught as a teacher at the music school and since 1975 worked as a lecturer at the "Hanns Eisler" University of Music in Berlin .
With Klaus Selmke he founded the City Band Berlin in 1972 , which became known as the City Rock Band in 1974 and called itself City from 1975 . Puppel plays the guitar there and has composed numerous hits for the band. In the early 1990s, Puppel and Toni Krahl founded the record company K & P Music , which released albums by City and numerous other East German bands and musicians such as Karat , Keimzeit and André Herzberg . An annual Christmas dinner for the homeless in Berlin, which is organized by Frank Zander , supports Puppel as a committed employee along with many other celebrities.
