Fritz Schülin

Fritz Schülin (born October 26, 1905 in Istein ; † August 17, 1980 ibid) was a Markgräfler local history researcher and educator .

Life

Training and work

After finishing school, Schülin attended the teachers' seminar in Meersburg . This was followed by initial positions as junior and auxiliary teachers. After his wedding in 1938, he was first transferred to Unteralpfen and later to Rosenau / Alsace . Towards the end of the war he was taken prisoner by the United States, from which he returned in 1947. He was soon able to go back to school work, which he initially started in Bürchau and then continued in Binzen until his retirement in 1971 .

From 1966 to 1979 Schülin was editor of the magazine of the Markgräflerland history association , Das Markgräflerland . The list of authors in the magazine Das Markgräflerland shows 90 contributions by Schülin.

Honors

In 1972 Schülin was awarded the Johann-Peter-Hebel-Badge of the community of Hausen im Wiesental and in 1975 he was made an honorary member of the Markgräflerland working group.

The community of Binzen named a street in his honor, the Fritz-Schülin-Weg. Binzen also awards the "Fritz Schülin Prize" for outstanding achievements in history and local history.
