Fritz Schlesinger
Fritz Schlesinger (* 1896 ; † 1988 in Dresden ) was a German modeller and sculptor.
Life
After leaving school, he completed an apprenticeship as a modeller in the porcelain factory in Potschappel from 1910 to 1914 . From 1914 he then worked artistically together with the sculptors Gustav Oppel, Franz Rauch and Hugo Meisel for the porcelain manufactory Kämmer in Rudolstadt .
From 1919 to 1925 he studied sculpture at the Dresden Art Academy . There he was a master student with Karl Groß and Karl Albiker . In addition to his diploma, he received a bronze medal.
From 1925 to 1945 he was a freelance sculptor in Dresden. From 1946 to 1964 he was responsible for the artistic reproduction of the figurative and ornamental sculptures in the Zwingerbauhütte during the reconstruction of the Dresden Zwinger .
In 1963 Fritz Schlesinger received the GDR National Prize .
