The Storchenbrunnen is a fountain in the Freital district of Döhlen ( district of Saxon Switzerland-Eastern Ore Mountains ). It has the status of a cultural monument and is the first fountain in the city, which was founded in 1921.

history

The Storchenbrunnen, a 3.60 meter high and 2.5 ton heavy sculpture made of artificial stone , was created in 1938 by the Freital sculptor Fritz Schlesinger (1896–1988).

The fountain was originally located in the center of a residential area on Dresdner Strasse . There it fell into disrepair, and rust damage occurred .

It was removed from this place in 2009 and taken to a stonemason in Dresden- Gittersee for restoration . In 2010 the stork fountain was placed under monument protection. After the renovation, the transport took place in October 2011 to a place just a few meters from the old location near the Weißeritz . The inauguration of the restored fountain took place on May 4, 2012.
