After Alsace was annexed to France again as a result of the First World War , the Wündisch family left their homeland and moved to Germany. Wündisch, whose parents had died in 1923, then lived with relatives in Berlin .

He passed his first state examination in law in the city of Celle in 1932 and the assessor examination in Berlin in 1935.

Working life

In 1936 Wündisch moved to the Rhineland and began his professional life as a lawyer assessor at the headquarters of the lignite and briquette factory Roddergrube . During the Second World War he was drafted into the Wehrmacht . At the end of 1945 he was able to resume his work at the Roddergrube. He was the company's legal advisor until 1952 , after which he became head of the tax department. As a result of the merger of the lignite works to form the Rheinische Braunkohlekraftwerke AG (now Rheinbraun ), Fritz Wündisch was transferred to Cologne , where he worked as an authorized signatory in the tax department until his retirement in 1975 .

research

As early as 1947, when Wündisch had decided on Brühl as his permanent place of residence, he began to deal with the history of Brühl , which he included in the history of Kurköln . Individual contributions to the history of Brühl appeared as supplements in the "Brühler Heimatbl Blätter". He also researched the history of lignite mining in the Rhineland. The Rheinbraunarchiv in Schloss Paffendorf , now the Rheinbraun Information Center , was created through his initiative . After his retirement he intensified his historical research through archive work and source studies on which his publications are based.

He has given his extensive collection of transcripts of sources and regesta on the history of Brühl to the Brühl City Archives.
