Froso Kasioura

Efrosini "Froso" Kasioura ( Greek Ευφροσύνη (Φρόσω) Κασιούρα , born February 11, 1957 , † December 2010 ) was a Greek chess player .

For the Greek women's national team, she played on the third board at the chess Olympiads in Thessaloniki in 1984 and in Dubai in 1986 . She had a positive result of 12.5 points from 21 games in her Chess Olympiad (+10, = 5, −6; 59.5 percent).

She won the Greek individual championship in 1986. Since she was tied with Anna-Maria Botsari , she had to share the title with her. At the 1987 zone tournament in Naoussa, which was won by Suzana Maksimović , Froso Kasioura was split eighth, at the 1993 zone tournament in Nea Makri , which was won by Anna-Maria Botsari, split fourth.

Since 1985 she has held the title of FIDE Women's Champion (WFM). Her highest rating was 2194 in January 2000.

Shortly before Christmas 2010 she died at the age of 53 after a long illness. In January 2011 a chess tournament was held in her honor in Kallithea .
