history
Frunol Delicia GmbH was created in 1997 through the merger of the two formerly independent companies Delicia GmbH from Delitzsch and Frunol Gesellschaft für Produktion und Vertrieb mbH from Unna.
Delicia
The beginnings of Delicia GmbH go back to the year 1817. On May 30th, 1817 Carl Christian Freyberg bought the pharmacy "Zum Weisse Adler" on the market square in Delitzsch. From 1818 he started producing pesticides. In the second half of the 19th century, veterinary drugs were added. Until the end of the 19th century, the company specialized in the production of veterinary drugs, rat control and pesticides as well as household insecticides . The transition to machine production took place around 1818. The products were patented in 1896 under the brand name delicia .
The company was entered in the commercial register in 1888 under the name "Ernst Freyberg, Chemische Fabrik Delitia, Delitzsch" . The company grew rapidly and in 1910 exported its products to numerous European and overseas countries. Due to the increasing production volume and the associated space consumption, new production facilities were built on the eastern edge of the city from 1936 to 1943, with an industrial area of around 110,000 square meters.
In 1946 the operation in the Soviet Zone was temporarily expropriated, but was returned to the Freyberg family in 1947. In 1958 he had to accept state participation in the GDR . VEB Fahlberg-List from Magdeburg was an additional partner . On May 1, 1972, the company was finally nationalized as VEB Delicia Delitzsch .
After the VEB Kombinat Chemisch-Technische Produkte Leipzig was founded on October 1, 1981, VEB Delicia Delitzsch became part of this Kombinat . While VEB Isofol Leipzig was the main company of the combine initially , this function was transferred to VEB Delicia Delitzsch with effect from January 1, 1985. Delitzsch was the seat of the combine.
After the fall of the Wall , the combine was liquidated in the first half of 1990. The combine operations were converted into independent corporations by unbundling on July 1, 1990. VEB Delicia Delitzsch was converted into a GmbH with Treuhand Leipzig as a shareholder. In 1995 the first phase of renovation and expansion was completed and production started again at the Delicia site in Delitzsch.
Frunol
The current managing director Jürgen Friedel founded Frunol in Unna in 1975. In 1984 the company started the industrial production of rodenticides and household insecticides . At the end of the 1980s, a new active ingredient refinement process for the use of odorless household insecticides was developed. From 1993 a sales and production cooperation with Delicia GmbH was established due to the takeover of the company shares from Treuhand Leipzig . In 1995 the Etisso house + garden brand from Celaflor GmbH Ingelheim am Rhein was added with the business areas of potting soil, plant care and plant protection.
From 1999 to 2000, the former production building in Unna was converted into the administrative headquarters, while Delitzsch is the development and production site. In addition, a sales office was set up in Dubai in 2000 to expand business relationships on the Arabian Peninsula and its neighboring countries. In 2001 the second renovation and expansion stage for the production of snails and poison lenses was completed, and production began in 2004. In 2002, the then leading tree care brand LacBalsam was taken over.
