Fu Chunyan (born December 28, 1989 in Qiqihar ) is a Chinese speed skater .

Fu initially started exclusively at the national level, where she was one of the best athletes in the discipline at a young age. After a fifth place in the Chinese all-around championship in 2005, where she was by far the youngest among the 24 participants, she started shortly afterwards at the Junior World Championships in Seinäjoki, Finland , where she placed in the midfield. The Chinese achieved her international breakthrough in winter 2006/07. First she completed her first World Cup starts in Moscow , where she immediately came under the top 30 and thus scored first points, then she won the bronze medal in the all-around competition at the Junior World Championships in Innsbruck . She achieved the same result in the team run, where she and her partners Li Haiyang and Wang Megying finished third out of twelve nations. Fu then won two silver medals over 3000 and 5000 meters in the Chinese Individual Distance Championship.

The 2008/09 season was similarly successful for Fu. She achieved consistent results in the World Cup - often among the best 30 individually, with several top ten results with the team - and also won the 3000m and team run at the Winter Universiade in Harbin . According to her own statement, this success came as a surprise to the 19-year-old; she didn't expect for a moment that she could win gold. Her next goal was to participate in the 2010 Olympic Winter Games in Vancouver . With consistently good placements at the beginning of the 2009/10 season , she qualified for the Olympics and took 25th place in Vancouver over 3000 meters, which is about as good as in the World Cup.
