The Fuhlensee is a lake in the district of Plön in the German state Schleswig-Holstein northeast of the village of Ruhwinkel . It belongs to the Bornhöveder chain of lakes , is about two hectares in size and has the shape of a pear. At the longest point it measures about 210 meters, at the widest point about 150 meters. The lake is centrally located in the 41.71 hectare nature reserve Fuhlensee and the surrounding area .

The lake is a largely silted up inland lake. The bank is dominated by dense deciduous forest with alder and beech trees, and in some places there are also fens . There is no access to the shore, only parts of the lake can be seen from an elevation near Ruhwinkel. The landscape around the lake is shaped by Ice Age moraines .
