The Fukientee ( Carmona microphylla ) is the only plant species of the genus Carmona in the family of the predatory plants (Boraginaceae). This species received its common German name after the Chinese province of Fukien ( Fujian ). Fukientee is native to Indonesia , the Japanese Ryūkyū Islands , Australia , Taiwan and the Chinese provinces of Hainan and southern Guangdong .

description

The Fukientee is a well-branched, evergreen shrub or small tree that reaches heights of 1 to 3 meters. On the trunk and on the stronger branches, the bark is gray-brown and fine-cracked. The bark on the thin branches is gray and smooth, initially hairy. The short-stalked leaves are simple and small. The leathery leaf blade has a length of 1.5 to 3.5 cm and a width of 1 to 2 cm. The upper side of the leaf has white, small hairs. The leaf margin is notched.

Flowers are present all year round. There are two to six flowers in an axillary inflorescence. The hermaphrodite flowers are fivefold. The five sepals are 4 to 6 mm long and only fused at the base. The five 4 to 6 mm long petals are fused together like a bell. The corolla lobes are longer than the corolla tube. The petals are white or a little reddish. There is only one circle with five stamens ; they tower above the petals. The 3 to 4 mm long stamens are fused with the base of the petals. The anthers are 1.5 to 1.8 mm long. The two carpels are a top permanent ovary grown. The 4 to 6 mm long stylus is divided into two near its base and ends in two head-shaped scars.

Red or yellow drupes are formed that are 3 to 4 mm in diameter and contain four seeds.
