The Funicular de Sant Joan ( German  Funicular Sant Joan ) is a funicular railway on the Montserrat near Barcelona in Catalonia , Spain .

history

The line was built by Von Roll in 1918 and belonged to Ferrocarrils de Muntanya de Grans Pendents (FMGP), a company that also built the Funicular de la Santa Cova . In 1986 the Ferrocarrils de la Generalitat de Catalunya took over the line, which it modernized in 1997 and equipped with new panoramic cars with transparent roofs.
