Furukawa Group
The Furukawa Group ( Japanese 古河 グ ル ー プ Furukawa Gurūpu ) is a Japanese keiretsu that dates back to 1875 and is active in the fields of electronics , electrical engineering , the chemical industry ( pesticides ) and mechanical engineering ( robotics ).
The forerunner of the group is the Furukawa- Zaibatsu , which was disbanded by the American occupation authorities ( SCAP / GHQ ) after the Second World War . The founder was Furukawa Ichibei .
After the war, the Zaibatsu companies were loosely linked through (cross) shareholdings, thus remaining formally independent of each other, and forming the Furukawa Group. The group of companies is managed by Furukawa Sansuikai ( 古河 三水 会 ), ten core companies of the previous Zaibatsu. The group consists of 51 companies in total.
