Future Card Buddyfight ( Japanese フ ュ ー チ ャ ー カ ー ド バ デ ィ フ ァ イ ト , Fyūchā Kādo Badifaito ) is a Japanese media franchise consisting of a trading card game , manga series and anime television series that has been released since the end of 2013. The stories for the franchise take place in a near future in which monsters from another world can be summoned with the playing cards.

content

The stories of anime and manga are set in the year 2030. A new technology makes it possible to communicate with beings from another world using cards in the game Buddyfight . These are called by the players and to their buddies , who they can then use in the game. But while the game is popular and tournaments are held, others use the buddies for crime. The Buddy Police was set up against these acts .

The student Gaō Mikado receives the monster Drumbunker Dragon as Buddy, the son of the greatest hero of the dragon world. With him as a particularly strong buddy, Gaō can now compete against strong opponents, play in tournaments and is also confronted with illegal buddy users.

Trading card game

The game developed by Bushiroad was announced in November 2013, which also began the advertising campaign for the game, which also included the launch of the manga and anime. The first cards of the game itself appeared on January 24, 2014 in the form of two trial decks , each assigned to the hero Gao Mikado and his opponent Rouga Ragami . The first expansion Dragon Chief followed on January 31st . By 2019, a total of 20 trial decks and eight start decks, 35 expansions, six extra packs and various other card collections had been released. The start and trial decks also contain a life counter, rule book and play mat.

The manufacturer Bushiroad supports tournaments and workshops on the game in Asia, North America and Europe.

From May 2018 to February 2019 the sequel Shin Future Card Buddyfight was published in the same magazine , which was concluded with an anthology.
