Gábor Ács

Gábor Ács (* 1926 in Budapest ) is an architect of Hungarian origin . He was the chief planner for the Italian real estate developer Società Generale Immobiliare .

Life

Ács studied architecture at the Technical University in Budapest, where he graduated in 1948. When Soviet troops occupied Hungary, his family fled to Italy and settled in Rome. Ács enrolled at the Politecnico di Milano and graduated in architecture in 1953. In 1956, Ács traveled to the USA and joined IM Pei's office , where he worked as a design architect on the Kips Bay Plaza and Washington Square East projects .

After becoming a partner at Pei with Henry N. Cobb , Ács returned to Italy in 1963 and opened an office in Piazza Navona in Rome.
