Hubert Sommerauer

Hubert Sommerauer (* 1957 in Ostermiething ) is an Austrian painter and graphic artist .

Live and act

Sommerauer first studied law , political science , journalism and art history . At the International Summer Academy of Fine Arts in Salzburg , he attended courses with Werner Tübke (1984), Uwe Bremer (1985) and Geoffrey Hendricks (1987).

The artist lives and works in Salzburg and Linz . He deals with drawings, etchings, paintings, objects and book objects, texts, installations and performances. Since the 1980s, Hubert Sommerauer has been illustrating literary texts in the context of original graphic book editions and portfolios, e.g. B. Poetry by Georg Trakl and Hans Carl Artmann or prose by Ernst Jünger and Robert Louis Stevenson. Since 1993, Hubert Sommerauer has repeatedly presented his works in solo and group exhibitions. His work can be found in private and public collections (including the Austrian National Library , Museum Carolino Augusteum , Scottish National Gallery of Modern Art , Edinburgh , Temple University , Pennsylvania ).
