Gérard de Courcelles

Henry Julien Gérard de Courcelles (born May 21, 1889 in Paris , † July 3, 1927 at the Autodrome de Linas-Montlhéry ) was a French racing driver .
Career
Henry Gérard de Courcelles was active as a driver of cycle cars in the 1920s when he was hired by Lorraine-Dietrich in 1923 , their 3.4-liter touring car, the B3-6, at the first 24 Hours of Le Mans to drive. Together with André Rossignol , he finished eighth in the overall standings and won the class for vehicles between 3 and 5 liters. After a third overall place in 1924 , the overall victory followed in 1925 . It was Lorraine-Dietrich's first victory at Le Mans and André Rossignol was his partner again on both occasions.
In 1926 the duo was separated. While Rossignol again achieved overall victory with new team partner Robert Bloch , de Courcelles and partner Marcel Mongin had to be satisfied with second overall place.
Henry Gérard de Courcelles had a fatal accident on July 3, 1927 before the Grand Prix race of the 1927 French Grand Prix at the Autodrome de Linas-Montlhéry .
