life and work

Wörner attended the humanistic Johannes-Reuchlin-Gymnasium and the Fritz-Erler-Wirtschafts-Gymnasium in Pforzheim , which he graduated from high school in 1981. During his school days in the 1970s, he was committed to helping the poor and persecuted people in Chile , took part in the squatting to prevent the Wyhl nuclear power plant and was involved in southern France against the planned maneuvering area of the French army on the Larzac plateau . Until 1973 was the member of the Ring Bündischer Jugend (RBJ). In 1977 he was a co-founder of the Pforzheimer Green List. In 1980 he turned his back on the green movement after attending the founding party congress of the Greens in Karlsruhe.

In 1978 he produced his first record, the live recording Concierto latinoamericano . This resulted in several productions with the Chilean Canto writer and poet Sergio Vesely. The production Canto por mi in Munich was made possible by the German songwriter Konstantin Wecker .

In 1980 he founded the label and the record company messidor , which produced recordings of contemporary Latin American music - including Astor Piazzolla , Mario Bauzá , Rubén Blades , Willie Colón, Jesus “Chucho” Valdés, Patato, Gonzalo Rubalcaba and Jaime Torres.

In 1982 he founded messidor Musikverlag (later renamed Termidor Musikverlag), which published recordings by contemporary Latin American musicians - including Astor Piazzolla, Mario Bauza, Ruben Blades, Willie Colón, Jesus “Chucho” Valdés, Patato, Gonzalo Rubalcaba and Atahualpa Yuanphui distributed worldwide.

Götz Wörner, who was penniless in 1999, was from 2000 recipients of the aid for subsistence . As a result of his own experience, Wörner decided in 2007 to deal with the problem that people in a situation similar to himself are largely excluded from participating in cultural life due to their financial situation. With the support of the Bürgerinstitut e. V. Frankfurt am Main and the Frankfurt Unemployment Center (FALZ e.V.), he started a feasibility study for a culture passport, which should enable people who have to live on basic security to participate in culture again.

In 2008 Wörner started the Kultur für ALLE e. V. , which has since issued the culture pass as a means of cultural participation. In 2019, the association already has over 200 cooperation partners and the pass has already been used by over 30,000 people in Frankfurt am Main. The project is a model nationwide.

In 2012, Wörner also began a historical work on the Catholic and artist Bernhard Becker and his twin brother, the artist Ludwig Becker from Frankfurt am Main , who had been driven to death by the Gestapo as part of the Polytechnic Society Foundation's “District Historian” project .
