Günter Eich Prize (radio play)

The Günter Eich Prize was established in 2006 by the Media Foundation of the Stadt- und Kreissparkasse Leipzig and announced for the first time. In memory of the radio play author Günter Eich, this radio play award is intended to honor “the life's work of authors who have constantly and multifacetedly expanded the repertoire of the radio play genre with radio works” (preamble). The chairman of the jury from 2007 to 2013 was Christoph Buggert , and since 2015 Wolfgang Schiffer . It also includes Linde Rotta , Diemut Roether, Konrad Zobel and Frank Olbert (as of 2016).

The Günter Eich Prize is awarded every two years, alternating with the Axel Eggebrecht Prize , which is sponsored at the same time . The award was first presented in 2007, the year of Günter Eich's 100th birthday. It is endowed with 10,000 euros.
