Günter Bittengel (born July 14, 1966 in Prague ) is a former Czech football player and current coach .

Player career

Bittengel started at Dukla Prague in 1976 . In the 1985/86 season, the striker made the jump from youth to the first team. He became a regular player from 1986/87 and also made his first appearance for the Czechoslovak national team . In 1991 Bittengel moved to Bayer Uerdingen in the 2nd Bundesliga , where he was regularly used. In 1992/93 and 1994 to 1996 he played with the Krefeld team in the Bundesliga.

In early 1997 he moved to the then second division club FK Chmel Blšany , with whom he rose to the Gambrinus League in 1998. After the 2000/01 season, in which he only played two competitive games, Bittengel moved to the small Prague suburb SK Černolice , where numerous well-known players let their careers end.

Coaching career

In the 2001/02 season he took over on the 14th day of FK Chmel Blšany, which he also led in the following season. After the tenth match day in 2003/04, the club separated from him, a few weeks later Bittengel found a new job with Viktoria Žižkov . However, he could not prevent the team's relegation and the contract was not extended. 2004/05 Bittengel coached the SC Xaverov Horní Počernice in the 3rd division ČFL, with which he was second and rose to the 2nd division. In 2005/06 Bittengel took over the fourth division SK Union Čelákovice. After poor results, the club split from him in late March 2006.

For the 2006/07 season, Bittengel took up the position of coach at FK Dukla Prague. In December 2009, Bittengel moved to the position of sports director.
