Günter brooch
Günter Brosche (* 1939 in Vienna ) is an Austrian musicologist and librarian , as such he was head of the music collection of the Austrian National Library .
Background and career
Günter Brosche studied theater and musicology and completed his studies with a doctorate in theater studies. From 1964 to 2002 he worked primarily as a librarian in the Austrian National Library. From 1981 to 2002 he was director of their music collection.
Brosche was also always scientifically active. From 1975 he also acted as General Secretary of the International Richard Strauss Society based in Vienna. He was then also the chief editor of the Richard Strauss papers, which appear twice a year .
Brosche was also a consultant for the edition of the conversation books by Ludwig van Beethoven and the editor of numerous musicological publications. He stood out as a Richard Strauss researcher, wrote a Strauss bibliography and edited the correspondence between Richard Strauss and Franz Schalk as well as Richard Strauss and Clemens Krauss .
