from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Günter Gauglitz (born March 20, 1944 in Mährisch-Ostrau ) is a German chemist and university professor. For many years, Gauglitz was Professor of Analytical Chemistry at the Institute for Physical and Theoretical Chemistry at the University of Tübingen .

Günter Gauglitz studied chemistry at the University of Tübingen, where he completed his intermediate diploma in 1965. In 1966 he received a Masters of Science degree from the State University of Iowa . In 1969 he passed the diploma examination with a thesis on the "photochemistry of azoxybenzene" with Gustav Kortüm and Heinz Mauser . In 1972 he received his doctorate with the thesis "Absorption and fluorescence spectroscopic methods for complex photo reactions" at the University of Tübingen. He then went to the USA as a postdoctoral fellow, where he carried out a project for the National Institutes of Health at the University of Philadelphia ("Fast reaction kinetics in biological material"). In 1979 he qualified as a professor for physical chemistry , in 1983 he was appointed professor in Tübingen, and in 1987 he was appointed to a C3 professorship for analytical chemistry and computer science. Gauglitz has mainly researched optical sensors. Gauglitz had and still holds numerous academic offices and functions. "He is considered one of the pioneers in the field of optical biosensors."
