Over the years Günter H. Lobe has specialized in reproducing important instruments by old Italian masters. He developed his cellos from original cellos by legendary masters such as Antonius Stradivari , Matteo Goffriller or Domenico Montagnana . His violins are mostly made strictly according to old Italian models, preferably after Giuseppe Guarneri del Gesù or Antonio Stradivari.

In addition to the easy response and good playability of his instruments, the balanced, brilliant sound as well as the optical perfection of the wood and the brilliant lacquer work from full lacquer to antique finish, which has already been honored by numerous international prizes, are particularly noteworthy .

He also makes artful copies that are true to the original in loving detail. The following are important examples:

  • 1999: Copy of Antonius Stradivari's "Tullaye", which was very well received by experts
  • 2007: Copy of Guarneri del Gesu's “il Cannone”
  • as well as copies of "The King" and "Kreisler" by Guarneri del Gesu
