Günter Hedtkamp

Günter Hans Hedtkamp (born February 11, 1928 in Lünen ; † March 24, 2018 ) was a German economist .

Life

Günter Hedtkamp studied law at the University of Saarbrücken (1949–1950) and law and economics at the Faculté de droit de Paris (1950–1952). In 1954 he received his doctorate in law at the University of Paris, Faculté de Droit. After studying economics at the University of Cologne (1954–1956), he was a research assistant at the financial research institute of Günter Schmölders (1954-1957) and a research assistant at the Institute for Continental Agricultural and Economic Research at the Justus Liebig University in Giessen (1957 -1964). In 1958 he completed his habilitation in Gießen for economics and finance and taught as a private lecturer.

In 1964 he was first appointed as an adjunct professor and in 1965 as a full professor at the Justus Liebig University in Giessen for economics and finance. In 1973 Hedtkamp was appointed full professor for economics and society in Eastern Europe at the Ludwig Maximilians University in Munich . In 1980 he took over the chair for economics and finance at the Ludwig Maximilians University in Munich. In 1993 he retired.

From 1975 to 2001 he was director of the Eastern European Institute in Munich and a member of the board of the German Society for Eastern European Studies .

He was also a member of the Scientific Advisory Board at the Federal Ministry of Finance (since 1970) and a member of the extended board of the Society for Economic and Social Sciences ( Verein für Socialpolitik ) as chairman of the committee for comparing economic systems (1964 to 1968 and 1979 to 1982).

He is the author of numerous publications such as the standard textbook of public finance and economic systems. Theory and comparison. In 2009 he was awarded the Order of Merit of the Federal Republic of Germany with the Order of Merit .
