Günter Neumann (born November 27, 1958 in Hechingen ) is a German agricultural scientist at the University of Hohenheim . He is a plant physiologist , specialist in rhizosphere research and scientific coordinator of the EU research project Biofector .

Live and act

Neumann studied biology at the University of Tübingen specializing in plant physiology with Achim Hager and molecular biology with Axel Brennicke at the Free University of Berlin . With his dissertation: Comparative studies on the "regulation of the flavonoid biosynthesis of Munzia-Oenotheren of known genetic constitution" in the group of Berthold Schwemmle, he was awarded a Dr. rer. nat. PhD.

From 1992 to 2002 he was a research assistant to Horst Marschner at the Institute for Plant Nutrition at the University of Hohenheim , then at the University of Kiel with Burkhard Sattelmacher and at the Agricultural University of Beijing in Fuoso Zhang's working group.

From 2002 to 2008 he was group leader at the Institute for Plant Nutrition Hohenheim for Rhizosphere and Fertilization with Habilitation in 2008. Since 2010 Neumann is Apl. Professor of plant nutrition and rhizosphere research, since 2012 he has also been the scientific coordinator of the international bioeffector project Biofector .

Research and publications

Rhizosphere research in Hohenheim works closely with the Hohenheim research institutes for soil science, microbiology, plant production, breeding and phytopathology. The institute has been involved in five EU-funded projects since 2000 and employs undergraduate and postgraduate students from more than ten countries. Neumann is the author and co-author of more than one hundred specialist publications.
