Günter Peters (born January 1, 1944 in Wiesede ) is a German politician ( SPD ).

Peters attended elementary school in Wiesede and then secondary school in Wiesmoor . He then completed an apprenticeship as a machine fitter and did his military service in 1965. After completing his military service, he became a professional soldier and began officer training. Peters worked in air traffic control and was a captain.

In 1972 he joined the SPD and was first chairman of the SPD local association Friedeburg from 1973 to 1983 and again from 1996. Peters is councilor of the Friedeburg community , where he was deputy parliamentary group chairman. He is also a member of the district council of the Wittmund district . In the thirteenth electoral term he was elected to the Lower Saxony state parliament through a direct mandate in the constituency 96 Wittmund, of which he was a member from 1994 to 1998.

In 2014 he received the Order of Merit of the Federal Republic of Germany on the ribbon.
