Paul Wäntig (born February 5, 1846 in Leipzig , † October 17, 1927 in Zittau ; full name: Paul Heinrich Otto Wäntig ) was a German entrepreneur and politician ( National Liberal Party ). He was a member of both chambers of the Saxon state parliament .

The son of Heinrich Ferdinand Wäntig (1813-1853) was the owner of the company Wäntig & Co. in Zittau, founded by his father in 1846 , in which linen, semi-linen, cotton and semi-woolen skirt and trouser fabrics were manufactured. His fortune was given in 1912 at 3.1 million marks . In 1891 at the latest he was appointed to the Council of Commerce , and in 1898 at the latest to the Secret Commerce Council.

Wäntig had been a member of the Zittau Chamber of Commerce since 1881 . From 1883 to 1887 he was its deputy chairman, then from 1887 to 1921 its chairman. From 1881 to 1889 he was also a city ​​councilor for Zittau. After the deputy and former chamber president Ludwig Haberkorn resigned his mandate for reasons of age in 1893, Wäntig was elected to the second chamber of the Saxon state parliament in a by-election in the 1st urban constituency. He was a member of this until 1895. In 1901 he was appointed by the Saxon King Albert at his own discretion to the I. Landtag Chamber, of which he belonged until the dissolution of the constitutional monarchy in Saxony in November 1918.

His brother Karl Heinrich Wäntig (1843–1917) was a ministerial director in the Saxon Ministry of Culture . As a representative of the Wurzen Collegiate Foundation , it was also a member of the 1st Landtag Chamber from 1911.
