Karl Heinrich Wäntig
Karl Heinrich Moritz Wäntig (born March 13, 1843 in Leipzig , † April 19, 1917 in Radebeul ; also Carl Heinrich Moritz Waentig ) was a Saxon ministerial official and politician .
Live and act
Wäntig studied in Heidelberg and Leipzig and was a member of the Corps Guestphalia (1862) and Misnia III (1864). He had a PhD as Dr. jur. et phil. as well as Dr.-Ing.
From 1882 to 1892 Wäntig was successively administrative governor in Oelsnitz , Glauchau and Großenhain . In the royal Saxon civil service he rose to the position of ministerial director in the ministry of education . As a representative and cathedral dean of the Wurzen collegiate monastery , Wäntig was a member of the first chamber of the Saxon state parliament from 1911 to 1917 .
He held the title of Real Secret Councilor with the predicate of excellence . In addition, Waentig was awarded the Grand Cross of the Saxon Order of Albrecht , the Grand Cross of the Prussian Order of the Crown and the Grand Commander of the Saxon Order of Merit (status 1915). In 1905 he received an honorary doctorate from the Technical University of Dresden. Waentig died on April 19, 1917 in his apartment on the first floor of the rental villa Leipziger Strasse 5 in Radebeul . He left a wife and five children, including the economist and politician Heinrich Waentig and the administrative officer Karl Waentig .
Wäntig's father Heinrich Ferdinand Wäntig (1813–1853) founded the Wäntig & Co. company in Zittau, which produced skirt and trouser fabrics. His brother Paul Wäntig (1846–1927) took over his father's company and was also a member of the Saxon state parliament.
