Wiesede is a village in the East Frisian community Friedeburg . The Geest village has around 400 residents.

history

On October 26th, 1456 the parish of Wiesede went under the protection of Count Diedrich von Oldenburg and swore allegiance to him. Meleff, Gerleff, Hanneke, Habbe and Willeke are named as representatives of the parish.

A castle is said to have stood in the northwest of the village. From Wiesede, a paved path is said to have led to Hopels monastery, which in Hopels was 12 feet wide. Hop growing is said to have been very widespread, because the site owners had to pay off part of the Michaelis gradient to the second preacher at Reepsholt in hops, the contribution in kind was later converted into cash payments.

A brick factory was operated here from 1540 to 1964. The dwarf school from 1913 is now used as a chapel building. Today the federal highway 436 from Friedeburg to Wiesmoor runs past the village. To Wiesede counts the moor colony Upschört , founded in 1800, is cooperating with you today in a village community. The Karl-Georgs-Forst is located southeast of Wiesede.

The Barkenbusch located on a Geest island belongs to the municipality of Wiesede. In a document dated July 14, 787, in which the boundary conditions of the Diocese of Bremen in East Friesland were regulated, the Barkenbusch is referred to as Bercpol (Berc = birch or nd. Barken, poel = standing water, sea). The authenticity of the document is disputed.

On July 1, 1972, the former communities Abickhafe , Dose , Hoheesche and Reepsholt merged to form the community Reepsholt. In the course of the municipal reform on August 16, 1972, the municipality Friedeburg was formed from the previous municipalities Bentstreek , Etzel , Friedeburg, Hesel , Horsten , Marx , Reepsholt, Wiesede and Wiesedermeer .
