Ernst Friedländer (archivist)

Ernst Friedländer (born August 28, 1841 in Berlin , † January 1, 1903 in Berlin) was a German archivist . His father was the archivist Gottlieb Friedländer (1805–1878), his grandfather was the coin collector Benoni Friedländer and his nephew the art historian Max J. Friedländer .

Life

Friedländer studied law at the Berlin University and was awarded a Dr. jur. PhD. From 1867 he worked at the Prussian State Archives in Münster and from April 1, 1872 as head of the newly established Prussian State Archives in Aurich . From 1874 Ernst Friedländer worked at the Secret State Archives in Berlin. Gottlieb Friedländer's estate is kept there (signature: GStA PK, VI. Main Department NL Friedländer, G.).
