Günter Prodöhl

Günter Prodöhl (born May 29, 1920 in Berlin ; † June 9, 1988 in Potsdam ) was a German author .

Life

Prodöhl worked as a court reporter for many years. He was best known as the author of the television series " Blaulicht ", which ran from 1959 to 1968 on GDR television . He also wrote individual editions of the Blaulicht novel series .

The series was designed as "competition" for the series Stahlnetz , which is running on western television . However, since those in power believed that no more crimes could happen in the GDR after the abolition of capitalism, Prodöhl had to set up his cases differently. So it came about that the leading actors mainly competed against smugglers, fugitive criminals and fraudsters who had entered the country from West Berlin. When the wall was built in 1961, however, that was no longer possible. After a nine-month break in broadcasting, "GDR criminals" were broadcast. The series was discontinued in 1968 because those responsible were constantly under suspicion of undermining the ideals of the GDR.

In addition, Prodöhl wrote many books, including Criminal Cases Without Example (5 volumes) and The Murderer could be heard on VHF , which deal with famous criminal cases and their investigation.

Prodöhl drew attention to himself in December 1949 when he called the writer Arno Schmidt an "anti-humanist" in the Berliner Zeitung , whose "anti-people" book Leviathan had nothing in common with young German literature. Prodöhl implied that Schmidt belonged to a "class that has become parasitic".
