Günter Pumm

Günter Pumm (born August 2, 1944 in Jägerndorf ) is a teacher, lecturer and doctorate in political science . From 1974 to 1978 he was a member of the Hamburg Parliament .

Life and work

Günter Pumm passed his Abitur at a humanistic grammar school and, financed by the Studienstiftung des Deutschen Volkes , studied first German, then political science, history (with Fritz Fischer and Otto Brunner ) and constitutional law. He did his doctorate on "Candidate nomination and internal party democracy in the Hamburg SPD" with Winfried Steffani . From 1977 he worked as a high school teacher and from 1985 to 1997 also as a lecturer for history and politics in teacher training. He was a lecturer at university and technical college and published on political and historical didactics, as well as political science.

Educational policy

Even as a student, Günter Pumm was involved in university politics as a student council spokesman and in the educational advertising of the AStA of the University of Hamburg . In Hamburg's citizenship, he was a member of the university committee and budget committee as well as deputy school policy spokesman. From 1971 to 1974 and from 1991 to 2001 Pumm was a deputy at the Hamburg Science Authority, from 1978 to 1982 he was a deputy at the Department of Internal Affairs. Günter Pumm was a member of the Board of Trustees of the Research Center for Contemporary History in Hamburg from 1992 to 2001, and the Board of Directors of the Political Science and Political Education section of the DVPW from 1990 to 2001. Pumm was on the board of the working group for educational issues of the Hamburg SPD from 1988 to 2001, of which chairman 1999-2001. In the educational policy work, the main goals were the priority education, equal opportunities, co-determination in schools and universities, improvement of teaching and the performance of universities.

Party reform in the SPD Hamburg

In the seventies he made a contribution to party reform and intra-party democracy in the Hamburg SPD, in particular for the candidate list and the senatorial election process , in party reform commissions and in his function as local chairman of the SPD in Flottbek (1970-76). Pumm also acted as the local club chairman in Osdorf (1976–1980) and was a member of the board of the local club in Neugraben for several years .
