Günter Stiller (born February 10, 1936 ) was a soccer player in the area of ​​the GDR soccer association . In its highest division, the GDR Oberliga , he played for SC Lokomotive Leipzig . He also played international matches for the GDR junior and B national teams.

Athletic career

Stiller first played as a student at the company sports club (BSG) "Albert Richter" in Halle (Saale) . As a junior player, he moved to BSG Motor Dessau , where he was appointed to the squad of the GDR junior national team in 1954. On October 23, 1954 (Bulgaria - GDR 1: 1) and on March 27, 1955 (CSSR - GDR 1: 4) he played as a striker in his only two international junior matches, in which he scored one goal each. Stiller played for Motor Dessau until 1958, most recently in the third-rate 2nd GDR league .

For the 1959 season he joined the GDR upper division club SC Lok Leipzig, where he made his debut in the elite league on April 5, 1959. In the match on the 4th day of the match activist Brieske-Senftenberg - Lok Leipzig (2-0), he was called up as a half-left striker. From the 10th matchday on he had a regular place in the league team, played 19 games in the 26-round season and was together with Rudolf Krause with five championship goals in Leipzig's top scorer.

In 1959 and 1960, the GDR Football Association played nine international B matches. Stiller was called up three times, for the first time in the encounter between Czechoslovakia and GDR (1-0) on September 23, 1959. While he was still a substitute in this game, he came in the immediately following international B matches between GDR and Bulgaria (2 : 1) on July 10, 1960 and Soviet Union - GDR (2: 1) on August 17, 1960 as a striker in the team from the start. Stiller did not score in these games, so he was no longer considered for GDR selection games. During the same period, Stiller also played two games with the Leipzig city ​​selection in the Messestädte-Pokal . He played in the 1958/60 competition on March 4, 1959 in Leipzig against the Belgian team Royale Union Saint-Gilloise (1-0) as a center forward and in the trade fair cup 1960/61 on October 19, 1960 as a half-left striker in the encounter Belgrade - Leipzig (4: 1). In the latter game he scored the goal for the Leipzig selection. Both encounters were the second legs in the first round of the competition, after which Leipzig was eliminated.

In the top league season in 1960 Stiller was a fixture in the SC Lok line-up. Mainly used as a center forward, he completed 22 of the 26 played point games and with his six championship goals was again one of the most dangerous players on his team. With three goals he was also instrumental in the fact that the SC Lok reached the quarter-finals of the GDR Cup competition (SC Lok - SC Motor Jena 0: 2). In 1961, the playing times in GDR football were changed to the summer-spring rhythm. In addition, the 1961/62 season was held with 39 rounds. Stiller started again as a regular for SC Lok, but injured himself on the 9th match day. After that he was only used on matchday 13 in the second half. His injury turned out to be so severe that Stiller had to give up competitive sport. At the beginning of 1962 he went back to his old community Motor Dessau.
